United Press Association — By Electric Teleglf aph'MCopy right . (Received March 20, 9 a.m ) -PARIS, March 19. M. Marielin Bexthelot, the famous French savant, died of heart failure a f.^v moments after his wife succumbed.

(Per Press Association.) •• AUCKLAND, March 18. ' Two old settlers died yesterday, Mr W. B. Montgomery, formerly ' in the service of the Survey Department, aged 87, and Mr Edward Owen, aged 75. WELLINGTON, March 39. Mr Peter ft. Hay, Engineer-in-Chief of the Public Works Department, died • at Wellington to-night. Deceased contracted pleurisy last November, and had been in the hospital for some time, but returned to Wellington last week.
