THE CAUSE OF DECLINE IN SECURITIES. tfnited . Press Association — By Electris Telegraph. — Copyright. LONDON, March 19. In the House of Commons, the Right Hon. H. Asquith (Chancellor of the Exchequer), in reply to Colonel Sir Howard Vincent, said there were many causes contributing to the decline of Government stocks and other high-class securities. These were international in operation. He instanced the necessity of replacing the capital destroyed by the San Francisco earthquake and other disasters. The best remedy, so far as the Government's influence was concerned> was to reduce expenditure, strengthen the sinking fund, and avoid borrowing for current expenditure.
