YACHTING.

NEW ZEALAND BOAT THE VICTOR. Per Press Association. Melbourne, January 13 t . The La Carabine Cup resulted in a win for, the Rawhiti, with Heather second and) S.J.S. third. A strong southerly breeze was blowing, with lumpy seas. The course was a beat of 18 lnites, and a run home of ten miles. Eleven yachts started. The Rawhiti and Heather were first across, but the S a yonara held the lead for the first half mile, when the Rawiuti took it. The S-ayonara was apparently too light, and carried too much canvas, but was not as expertly handled as the Rawthiti and Heather. The former sailed Kke a witch, sailing corkily over the seas, while the Sayonara jumped and shipped a deal of water. At eviory tack the New Zealand** increased her lead, and roiunded the buoy for home 18 mioutes in advance of foe. Victoria. Interest in 'the race then centred in tlvo contest between the Heather and Sayomara. The. wind., fell light on the home run. The Rawhiti passed the post fifteen and a foal* mAmites ahead of the Sayon<ara, wHo conceded the Rawhiti 24 seconds. ' The Heather was eight ini-niutes 2& seconds behind the Saylonana, but time allowance placed her second, v.ith S.J.S. third and Sayonara fourth.
