(From Our Own Correspondent.) 1-ho Rifle Club held their annual picnic on New Year's Day, at Mr G. 11. .Herbert's farm. " The attendance was very good, as:d' the number of entries for the handicap shoot larger than usual, some 600 rotunds of ammunition being disposed of during the day. Tl\e club trophy presented! by the Colonial Aunmunition Coimpany was secured by Mr M. J., Marsh, whose win was a most popular one. Mr J. L. lbboteen (President), Mr (M. J. Marsh (hum sec.), and the memibers of the shooting co I m<mit i taef (Messrs A. Marsh, G. fTerbort and E. J. Smith) are to lie congratulated fcxr the good arrangement of the competition, a nd the accommodation for the visitors. A number of ladies werv present, which, of course, helped to make the picnic a success, though it may account for some shooters not scoring up to thuir i.<sual form, the dazzling light of bright eyes not being altogether Conducive to bull's eyes. Mr G. JI. Herbert reports that none of his live stt/ck received, any injury, amdf fhopiosi Wi.th a little harrowing to \ye able to drill turnips in for a few chains round the targets.
