(Per Press Association.) Wellington, January 10. . Counsel for the appellant continued ,his address before the Meikte Co>mui'lssion to-day. Mr Justice Cooper asked counsel for the Crown what, reply the Crown, made to to the question, that if Meikle was ounningi enough to comb the brands from the sheep which Lambert saw tak«e»n away, why did Meikle keep the brands on; the two sheep skms that were found in the smithy. Mr McDonald x said" that this, was exaeffiy one of those matters criminals so frequently oVerlooflßed, and which led to the detection of their crimes. & sheep stealers and other criminals always did the , sensible thin^in the' w-ay' of concealing- their., guilt, they ) would never -bo fo«ind out. '
