An explosion occurred in the fiir.lacos of Jc«ncs and Laughlin's steel works at Pitt^burg. It is reported that many persons \\veie killed or injured. FURTHER DETAILS. | A RACE FOR LIFE. i ONLY ONE MAN ESCAPES UNHURT. Niw lYorli, January 10. The gas explosion, liberated sin-earns of molten metal five, feet deep. Out of thirty-five, only one person ir scaped unhurt by racing- faster than tho metal flowed. The rost were fatally injured or 'numerated.
