After being 'twice postpo»ed the picale arrarago I Ijy tho Urnitod Friendly Societies was held at Sentry Hill on Thursday. On the two previous occasions the fixture 'had been postponed because of rain, and early • on Thursday morning dt looked as if it would have to I>e postponed again or abandoned. Towards midday, however, the weather cleared and a goodly number of people journeyed to j , Sentry Hill. The attendance was, , of course, nothing like what at would have been on New -Year's. Day ; but the picnic ground was found to' <bp qiuite dry, and those wiho went out rhad a very enjoyable time. The cycle and foot races provided good sport and the . children were well catered for. Owing to the threatening weather and the prospect of a small attendance, the services of the Military Band were dispensed with. Following are results of the sports :—: — 'Top. Stop awd Jump. — C.
