THE CADET OFFICERS.
, Everyone who is interested in the school cadet movement will, we are sure, be pleased to learn that Major Dempsey and! the other officers 1 have withdrawn their resignations, which arose out of the unpleasantness and misunderstanding subsequent to the ; Sentry. Hill Encampment. On the {ground that '"the least said is the soonest mended" we need make no further reference to* the trouble, except perhaps to ®ay that we • are sure there was no intention on the' part of the Board to hurt the feelings of the officers, though the Hatter quite naturally thought they were not being 1 treated fairly. Thanks ■ largely to the intervention of Colonel Lovedlay, who takes a very keen interest in tho cadets, Major Dempsey has consented to withdraw 'his resignation, so that the incident may now be regarded as happily closed. This is fortunate for the cadet movement, wibich owes much to Maijdr Dempsey; arid fortunate also for ' the boys, many of whom would, we venture to isay, not have been permitted to visit the Christchurch enCa-mpment unless Major Dempsey went in command.
