SCHOOL COMMISSIOINERS.
lAt the ordinary 'meeting of the Taranaki School Commissioner's there was a full attendance, Mr James Wade presiding. A special resolution passeid 1 on 13th July, 'granting' a "'Hew/ lease to E. GHshnan, fox a term' of :21 years, was confirmed. Oti&&sfcsdlvbkms granting renewals to Mary Elizabeth Davison and J: TV\ Boon were also confirmed. It was decided, on the motion .of Mr Jennings, that a report slhowing the number of small sections administered by the Commissioners similar to the one now leased to Mr BkfoaTd Price, be prepared and submitted to next meeting. . A" sub-coimm'ittee consisting of JU.essrs Faull, Jennings, and Wade was appointed to g-p through the ranger ©report, and were empowered to take all necessary steps in regard to eraitfication of noxious weeds. 'Mr Eichard Price, lessee of section 59, Hue and Waiwakaiho, wrote that he was? prepared to pay £7 10/ per acre for the freehold of the 23 acres subject to the repayment to him of £ldo| als repre^en^n'g'his.iimipro'v'ements; in the alternative he would lease the land for 21 years at £3 per annum, subject to present conditions of lease. —It was decided not to entertain Mr Price's proposals, and that the Board's solicitor notify him that the Commissioners .now rely upon the covenants of the lease: The Wanganui Education' Board asked the Commissioners to purchase, for' i£2so, ono acre of land as an addition .to the present Eltham School site. C. Y-oW^, ' sec' 546,- . Patea. rental '£28 f annum and: 5 per cent, on £52 ■;, Jeremiah Kerrfek', subsec a,, Kakataifiea town 'belt, rental £33 per annum , and . 5: per. cent, on ''£te ; 31. J. Large; sub-sec c, ,Kak ra- amea town bel^v.rental £-12 per annum and 5 p^'ffceprW ©b' £3o. - "For the'^^^^^f^^g an addition to the fecnool si^'qn; the Kent Road!, a surrender of one >acre as accepted from the adjoining lessee, Mr Barker,, the sum of '£,10 being the amount of compensation. * The Board -accepted the surrender of a/ lease held by 'Alfred Honey, sub,secs 1 to, 18, sec. 40, Patea suburban. •''* ■ - • ' Tho , Coinniitesipner of Crown Larids wrote- that it had been arranged to-g-ive to the Bo>ar& sec. 1, bl. 11, Mahjbe, 446 acres, in exchan-ge for sec. ti; bl 10, Ui>per Waitara, which 'had been foup^d unfit for settlement. *'-\ The Treasurer reported a balance of '£812 2s 6d. Transfers were granted as follows :t— William Sheffield to Lewis Frost, sec. 507, New Plymouth ; West Coast Farmers' Association 1 to Catherine Death, sec. 18, bl. 15, Huiroa (provideid' the Chairman is satisfied of the toona fidies). . Sevieral mortgages were agreed to. Accounts amounting to £24 13s 9d were passed for payment.
