Strong financial houses have made a proposal for the construction of an Australian Trans-Continental railway. They offer a fifty thousand pounds deposit, with a twelve months' option, and are anxiously awaiting the decision of the South Australian Government. With reference tor the ' Trans-Contin-1 ental Railway cable, the Premier (Mr ,T. Price) states that the syndicate mentioned has been- formed by . Mr A. Harirold, formerly of Adelaide Taaid now of London.; Mriß. McEwen is the Adelaide representative of the syndicate. The Premier cannot understand the statement, that Jhe syndicate is awaiting the decisibh^of the *' South' Australian Government, because it was cabled last. week.
