Ui'quhart, at one tiwre manager of. the Bank of Australasia at InvercargilJ, and who )afterw«rdis adopted the law as a profession, has been appointed Colonial Treasurer in the new Tasmanian Cabinet. 'He had been Attorney-General in a . previous administration. Mr Huntley Elliot, late Under-Seo-retary for Mines, has (says a Wellington -wire) been appointed to the vacant seat on the Eoyal Commission to enquire into the Te Aute'and othernative educational endowments. The first meeting of the Commission will be on May 10th.
