(From Our Own Correspondent.) January 25. — The intenmediate meeting of the Borough Council was keld last night, his? Worship the May>r presiding over a full Council. A telegram from the Sanitary Inspector was read, requestling the Council to await suggested a'mendinren'ts to sanitary by-laws frojm the Public ETeaKh Department before • proceeding vith their adoption. It was decided -O' postpone th<e adoption of the. byaws until nest Wednesday. The Clerk was instructed to meet the requirements t of th« 'Au<ditor-General vith reference to the 'balance sheet or the year 1904-05, bjy allocating theum of £3-150, special loan a/c, to he following works : Water supply £1600, sewerage ,£IOSO/ streets im>rovemcn.t £500. The secretary of the Band Cotinmittee forwarded last ear's balance sheet and a ' request f or v subsidy. A , resolution was carried ranting a subsidy of £10. The Engineer's report recoanmeiniding certain mprovetaients to St-andish Street wa< cad and received,- and it was firially esolvcd that the matter be left in hie hands of • the Works Cotmsnittee jiri the Engineer to confer with the •etitioners, with power to deal with he necessary work. The Engineer was uithorised \ to' procure certain tools or certain purposes frottn England. A vtter from Messrs Pilaett and Willie, 'sking for £2 for* use of thieir rails' it intake tunnel was held over till :«xt meeting.
