The Borough Works Committee met on Friday evening. < There were present—His Worship the Mayor (Mr E. Cock) and t Crs. Burgess, Brooking, Browne, Collis, Cliff, Ewing and Tisch. Van Delden be permitted to transfer his billiard room license to Mr W. u Maiirison. That Mr Alec Mason bo granted a leaso' for one year of section 792, Daws'on-street, at a rental of Is per annum, under certain conditions. That the letter from Messrs McWilliams and Andrews (contractors for ■tunnel), asking for furthetf progress payment be referred to Mr Mestayer. That tenders be called for the construction of the power house. ; That, the Town , Clerk, be authorised to grant a rebate of half -rates to, Mrs Graves for house on sections K4i46 and 1472. unoccupied for over six imonths. That tho Borough' j Engineer be atithorised to tenders for aarting metal to Devon, Gill and J Browne Streets, ' and to accept the lowest tender. That metal from the iqu'arry be used in metalling those portions of Hcbson, Gill and Browne Streets already authorised to be done. That the ' Jockey Club be permitted to take a three-quarter service off the new main in Eliot-street on tEe usual conditions. That consideration of the xetefuest from residents* in Hine-street for concrete channelling be deferred until all channelling already authorised is completed. y x That the tender of Mr N. King for supplying oats at 2s 2sd per bushel be accepted. That the.'Bbirbu'gh" Engineer be authorised to asphalt the . inner half of the north side of Devon-street east.
