A BRITTE.GOES TO GAOL FOR LIFE.

A sensation was caused at the Supremo Court by a life sentence being imposed by Judge .Edwards on VicT-
tor Henry Simon onds, a sailbr, who pleaded guilty to two charges of an unnatural ofience on boys.
Tho Jirdge, addressing the prisoner, said : "This is one of the most a,w£jil offences that has ever come under my notice. ,You are absolutely unfit to bft at large, or to live. Aivery short timo, ago you would have been stamped out of existence. So far as lam concerned you shall nqver again have the chance ©fibeing the destroyer of yoimg inwoccnts. The sentence is hard lahour for the term of your natural life/
The prisoner seemed surprised, and was heard to rqmark to Detective jjapM a pMahon : "Your light will be put out before long." JYo official notice was taken of the threat.
