The annual, meeting of the Waihi Hports Club was held on Monday evening. There was a largo attendance of members. The president, Mr S. jVTcGaimness, occupied the chair. The statement of accoiuits was read by the secretary, Mr 11. George, and adopted. The officers for the ensuing year were elected. It was decided to hold the next gathering on 'November 2nd, and a first-class programme was drawn up. It was decided to do away with the foot-racing, and devote the whole of the attention to the horseracing. 'A vote of thanks was accorded the hon. secretary, and Messrs 11. C. Pardy and Rumbell, tho handicappers. Constable Beattio resumed duty on Wednesday, after a well-earned holiday. The nett profit realised from the ba»d bazaar amounts to about £4S j
Tho s.s. Kapiti arrived to-day with a load of coal for the freezing- works. The s.s. Kai Ora also arrived by the same tide from Onrhimera and Kawhia, with a general cargo.
