TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB.
To the Editor, Sir, — The thanks, of the members are due to yiou for your leader re the above club's affairs and T-he climax reached last week. The presid ;nt and chairman of committee, certainly has a poor showing to make asi the result of -his stewardship, for, from his reading, the club for, the past few seasons has been slowly going to the bad. Mr Samuel, "deplores the loss frojn the committee of his ''old friends" 'and the infusion of "new blood/ the latter being probably less «asy to handle, fcftit no) doubt will prove a blessing in disguise. The truth is that the T. J.C., -while times havo been most prosperous, has oeen .steadily retrogressing, and tho main, reason must be on account of mismanagement, ami the club at the present momeat fairly stinks in theoiostrils of the racing public A ihorouqlh chango in its managamo,nt sp'ms 'necessary, and if one might suggest, allow some other club to assume the metropolitan duty which apparently entails .-a lot of extra work and . responsibility, and is, at tho best, hut a dotfbtful honour. Competent officebearers will then assuredly be found to take charge' of the old club. Thes sale of the club's freehold and removal elsewhere requires eai'eful consideration, but, if found practicable^
proWably it will so happen to the (fortunes of tthe club that the first loss will prove tjhe best loss, Thanking you in anticipations— l am, etc., A MMBER.
