At a meeting of tho Masterton Hospital trustees Mis* H., Petremont, of Wellington, was appointed matron of the Masterton Hospital, Miss Ethel Harvey (TVaiinate) senior nurse. Miss Elizabeth Millar (Dunedin) second nurse, and Miss Stewart (Kopuaranga , probationer. Sir Joseph Ward left New Plymouth on Thursday for Stratford, where he was expected to receive several deputations, and later on go to Eltham to open the now Post Office. A banquet has been arranged for iii the evening. On Saturday Sir Joseph is due in Palmerston North to lay the foundation stone of ihe new -Post Office and to receive deputations. He is expected to return to Wellington on Saturday night. "Mr Peter Martin, who died at Fitzroy at the great age of 03, was born in Kent, and left London in 1857;. in the barque William Hatson. Accompanying him | were his "wife and son and an adopted 'daughter. Deceased served in the "Militia and Bushrangers during the war. and went through many exciting experiences.
