The truant officer (Mr Hooker)" forwarded replies to complaints made by the Norfolk Road School Commiitee in respect to his action. Ihe letter was received.
It wafe decided in the districts where j Comjmdfttees were setup request for | the names to be sent in be issued, and that a second election be notified where meetings had hioiti been hdld on the night fixed. The Mahoe School Committee wrote in reference to the appointment of a sewing mistress, more accommodation and a residence for tbe teacher. It was decided thai application be made to the Department. Mr Walsh wrote complaining that his children had been habitually kept in school after closing hour, and it was decided to refer the letter to the Bird Road School Committee. The West End School Committee forwarded a recommjendation that ihe school keep open diu*ing winter holidays owing to the time already lost. — Approved.
The Taranaki Teachers' Institute forwarded a resolution regretting that in many cases the names of local teachers who had done and were doin# good work had not been sent on io School Committees for selection. It was decided io inform the Inslitu'to that other things being equal local teachers always receive prelerence when the Board makes recommendation to committees.
It was decided to inform the manager of the State Fire Office that it •will receive consideration whenever any insurance is being effected by tho Board.
