Mr Bell did not httempt to arguo th a t prisoner had bean rig-btly conviciod of receiving; but argued that' he "was guilty of being *an accessory. The Court reserved jN-idgment. ' : The Court of Apceal heard .argument in. the case 'the King versus. Lawrence,' a Christdnirch' case; tho question being* whether a certain telfegl-ajn ' r sent by the' prisoner' Lawrence .had" been properly received in evidence at tlio trial, when he Vas' convicted of unlawfully using an instrument on a" woman. 1- The telegra^n was : " Answer < no questions. f .On my way to you." Prisoner was not, represented. For the Crown it was contended that' Electrical Lines Act, 18S4, made*' the original telegram which was handed in at ' Wellington conclusive evidence that, it had been sent by prisoner. Iho Court reserved judgment.
