Mr Rowley opened a waxworks entertainment in Auckland in a large shop in Queenstreet, on the site of the present Strand Arcade on his arrival. He afterwards made a tour of the colony, and then went to Australia, India, Africa, aod Home to the Old Country, making three' return visits to New Zealand. The last occasion on which he returned here was in September, 190-1. He was accompanied on his present tour by his niece,^ Miss Ada Rowley, his only relative in the colony. He 1 has two brothers in Lon-don—-one an auctioneerr— and his fataec is still living in Southampton, having reached the advanced age of over 70 years. The deceased, who was born at West Bromwich, Birmingham, Eng- j Africa, and Home to the Old Coun/and, never married.
