Sir Alfred Gasman, who died *t kis residence, Avondale, li&t Thursday, was 5S years of age. The -taany friends of Mrs A. Drake, of Fitzrdy, Avill regret to hear of her death, which occurred between 7 and 8 o'clock 1 on Friday night., The deceased lady , had beon iii indifferent health for some time, and.on Sunday last sbe v took such a bad turn that she was compelled to remain ind<o,ors. Since then she gradually i got worse, and the end came peacefully on Fri.day night. The deceased leaves a husband and four children ("two boys and two girls). 1 Mr A. Chivers will be a candidate for the East Ward at the next election of Borough Councillors. [Miss Bessie. Hislop, second daughter of Hon. T. W. Hi'slop, was married to Dr Shand at Wellington on (Wednesday, Dr Crawford, house surgeon at the Wanganui 'Hospital.- has had the degree M.l>. conferred upon him by the New Zealand University. The Anglican Bishop of Christchurch (Dr 'Julius), who broke down in health some tiime g-go. and left on a visit to England, was to have started from London on Thursday last on his 1 ie turn to ...New ' Zealand.
