! The funeral' of the late Mr (ieorge. Fisher, M.H.R., took place yesterday, the interment being made at Bolton Street cemetery, Wellington, where the deceased's body was placed beside, that of his mother. The cortege from the mortuary chapel at the hospital to the city was over half a mile in length, the mourners including £ir Joseph Ward, Colonel Pitt, Hon. Hall-Jones, city and district rnembars oi Parliament, City Councillors, business men, labour delegates, bankers, fishermen, wharf labourers, officers of public 3epaxttn«nts, lawyers ; in fact •representatives of all classes in the community joined in the last, tribute to the decegsed/ .. The Premier and^ party arrived at Waihi yesterday. He was formally; welcomed .by the Mayor in the presence of a great concourse of residents; also by the Waihi branch of the liberal and Labour Federation. The Premier then adjourned to the High" School, where he performed the ceremony of opening it. Thore were pver 700 children. present, who cheered lustily .. # The ceremony of turning on the wattr service was also performed.
