Per, Press Association., : Christchurch, February !), At the Presbytery to-day, the .tfev. l)r Erwin moved, That in the opinion of this Presbytery it is desirable that the Assemoiy enter into negotiations for incorporating union with the Methodist and Congregational Ghurches, and that in view of , these churches, being willing' to entertain such proposal an attempt be made to 'find a basis of doctrine and policy for such union. ' — ■ , As an amendment, the Rev. R. J. Maxwell, Moderator, moved, That tho Presbytery aoes not in the, meantime approve of the proposal that' the Assembly shall negotiate with? the Evangelical Churches with a view to union upon uasis of\doctrino and policy to bo Considered, but that it cordially approves , any' movement that will bring the churches into closer relations 3y means of practical, co-operation.
