Tl)e Churoh of Englai 1 Sund«y School children held then- nr.nual pi-> aic on Mr Nops' grounds yesterday, 21st inst. Prizes weie yivon for running. There was a large gablio/mg of youngsters, and a fair number cf idults present. The day was cn.remely warm, but no net.'cr ;)la'-c J«.r i picnic than Mr Nops' grounds could do wished, as it is high groun I and nuch cooler than our sports orounl. Only two gentlemen are nominated or the vacancy on the Borough Council caused by the resignation of Mr U. Julian. Lighting fnglcwood by electricity i« to be a fact, as tenders are called f or about four chains of tunnelling for ho works. We had some rain last light, and the. farmers who had their iay in were wishing for it as the grass vas getting too dry.
