The Taranaki Rifles 'held ' their usual inspection parade on- Monday, whtn 'there was .an excellent rmister despite the bad weather. ■ Tho men were exercised in Company movements and lira tactics after which Staff Sergeant-Major Sanderson gave a lecture on advanced, rear, and flank guards, und Colour-Sergt. Armitagjo briefly described the care necessary in looking after the rifle. . . . - It was decided on the motion of- 1 Captain Weston, to place on record the high appreciation in which- the late Private Thomas Carter was held' by his oomrade«, Captain A\e«ton referring 1 to the many good qualities of tho deceased, and his devotion to duty. On behalf of the corps, a letter of condolence will be sent to the l&ie Private Carter's family. Captain " Weston presented Col-Sorgt. Armitage with a silver mounted cano on behalf of members of the physical] drill class. ■ ' ! •The programmes ! of tho Auckland i and Wellington lliikv Associations' meetings arc both to hand, that from Auckland being the /better one. None of the Ideal men. are doingany practice. It would do the .Klfles "A" team the world of good to got a bump ; at any rate it would knock .tho conceit out of thorn' and make them practice, Both corps yo into camp on -Ist J anuary. ,
