, __ 4 '-n ; ' {Frpsn . our owai correspondent). • The second of a series of entertainment for the winter months held ;on Wednesday evening last .was well attended and , a very nice programme was 'submitted, and evidently met with the approval of the large . gathering present, several visitors, from a .distance expressing, their surprise and pleasure at the singing and, piano playing of the young ladies oi the road. Miss Ethel, Parkin is deserving of special praise for the manner . in which she trained several of her school mates in the songs "Ella Rhea" and "I'se Going Back to Dixie." Her, playing of the pianoforte selection " Shepherd's Even Song," and the rendition of the song " Oft in a Stilly Night," received the well merited rap- < plausfe of the' audience." The follow- 1 ing young ladles took part in^thetwo ' songs mentioned :— Beatrice, A<Ja, axid j Mabel Bridgeman, Gladys' Simpson, Ivy Wood and Ethel and May Parkin :with Miss S. Bridgeman as accompan- 1 ist. The duets "Whispering Hope" and "Convent Bells" by the. Misses Marshall. and Wheeler . were greatly ap-r predated. " Annie Laurie," was sung very nicely by Miss Simpson. The Misses V. and E. Crozier,, of Surrey Road, favoured., tiheiir 'Durham Road friends „ with singing ""Flight of Ages'' oy the former, and "Plymouth Sound" by the latter. Both songs were very, pleasingly rendered, and tHe audience testified their' approval in a hearty manner. " Hearts and Homes" by Mabel Bridgeman, "Call Me Back Again" by Gladys Simpson, and "Charity' :by Ada Bridgeman were all given splendidly, and all the young ladies' voices show, great, improvement. The comio song "I'm getting a Big Boyr.Now;-" by- Master F. Williams, caused a perfect furore, the youngster acquitting, himself remarkably well *' the same may well be said of Masters C. Wood and A. Lawrence ( in their comio dialogue "The Strong.

Man." The trio " Come" by Misses Ivy Wood, Mabel Bridgeman and E tin el Parkin—a very pretty, song— was extremely „ weir sting. Recitations : were given 'at' intervals by tne school children, -viz., "That's Not the- Way at Sea? by , Gladys 5 , Simpson,, " Geoiga Nidever'^ by Anton Dodunski^ "Stotm.^ Ring/ by "Ivy Mischewski, " The Sword," by Elsie Thomas, , and "The.
