WATER FAMINE AT BROKEN HILL

Sydney, June 23

The South Australian Government has arranged to commence to-morrow delivering 100,000 gallons of water to Broken Hill weekly. Next week 'the supply will be increased to 200,000 gallons failing other sources. An effort will also be made to have the supply augmented for steaming purposes. The; mining companies have notified contractors that owing to the waivt of water, contracts for delivery are suspended till the end of the month.

Sydney, June 22.

The rain-making experiments tried at Broken Hill to-day have produced no results so far. Only two or three days supply of wator is available, and tho mines will have to close almost immediately. !
