This was agreed to; . , OLD PEOPLE'S HOME. | The Chairman- explained that with -regard to one inmate the Board no claim on the Hawera district, as the man had been five months out of seven he was supposed to be in the .Hawera district, in Palmerston Eorth. R! Alcorn, an inmate of the Home, wrote thanking the Board for assistranco in^ getting him an artificial leg, and 'offering to help 4o pay cost out of his> Impejgia^ pension. . CHAIRMAN'S REPORT. The Chairman reported that the contractor for painting the Hospital was making , satisfactory progress. Nurse Donaldson having resigned applications were' called for Head nurae and assistant nurse; Acting upon the advice of the , Medical Superintendent

he had appointed Miss A. Carmichael, Dunstan Hospital, head nurse, and Miss M. Thompson, of Dunedin,' as assistant nurse. . ,J. Mitchell, an^ assistant at the Home and handy man about * the grounds resigned, and as the- laundress required assistance he advertised for a married- couple, and recommended the appointment of Mr and MrsPrestont-' For the purpose of beautifying' the Hospital grqwrids, a- ! Committee ,of New Plymouth ladies with the Mayoress at their head, had the matter in. hand, aud were promoting a" ball to raise funds.' Ccgjamittee appointed to adjust accounts 'with the Hawera Board was read. ; - -, The Chairman explained that the. agreement boiled down means that ihe Taranaki Board keeps its reserves and buildings, and pay. Hawera £85, 6f which sum Hawera had to refund to the Taranaki Board £66 being amount of extraordinary expenditure made by the Hawera Board, prior; to March 31st. The report was discussed at some length. The Chairman suggested that the term " of the existence of the agreement be fixed at 5 years., With regard to the Hawera County contribution -the Chairman said that the Board would >have to press tbat matter. - Mr , Gray hoped that the Hawera Doard" would- not send their choice cases here.
