OPUNAKE SCHOOL.
To the Editor. Sir, — I see by the last report of the Education Board that out of 25 applicants for the mastership of Optm--ake School the Teachers' Selection Committee ha^e chosen five for recommendation to the School Committee, not one of whom, however, is a teacher under tho Board. But let that pass. Mr fljaekay was careful to explain that the particular selection was made on account of Opunake soon becoming a District H iyh School, and yet one of the five is a young man — a youth — with no higher certificate than D 4, who has never had responsible management of a school, beyond a month or two temporarily at Waitara ; nay, who^e only experience has boon gained as junior a^K'fa nt i' 1 a large town school. Tt would be interesting if the Board would kindly publish the list of applicants to compare the superior and inferior merits of the various candidate's. IVrhnps. in case the Board rf»fn«p-». tho o|>linal<e Committee might bo induce*] to do so. — 'I am, etc.. TCNQUTRTCT!.
