ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual gathering of the Patea Racing Club was held on Monday. The weather was good, the course in fair order, and the attendance iarge. Some capital racing was witnessed, and the events were got off without any protest or accident, beyond a single fall in the Hurdle race, which had no serious result. The officers of the Club worked hard to bi-ing the meeting to a successful conclusion, the secretary, Mr R. W. Hamerton, being especially attentive and energetic. The totalisator was run by Messrs Neylon and Spriggens. Mr C. H. Chavannes brought off capital starts all through; The Patea Bane* played a number of selections durixig the day. Toledo was first to show, in the front, but Ngatoro was leading round the back, when Blackwing made a run, and leading in the straight won by 1 lengths, third horse three lengths away. When doing a preliminary Highlow bolted twice round the course, and was pulled up by Mr Chavannes. Time, lmin 47sec. Totalisator, £856; divs., £4 6/j and *1) il6/.

FINAL STAKES of 40sovs. About 4£ furlongs. Weight 9st. Impati won with Tamboturina second, but our representative had t leave to catch the strain ; bef ore the start, hence the absence of details.
