Of all the incidents in the whole comedy of ..love ? lam not sure but that the sweetest and the one longest remembered is th> first time you took & woman's hand in yours ,and pressed it gently. There was such promise in her ' not withdrawing her hand ! If you are an observer of human nature and of a humorous turn /'of mind, you never need be dull when there are women about; and the most entertaining ones are those for whom you may feel the greatest amount of sympathy. For that matter, no criticism has the least value when the criticised object does not appeal to the critic— Max O'Rell.
