Mr Chamberlain has cabled to the Premier reciprocating his congratuletions on the completion of tho 1 etciiic Cable. Melbourne, November 7. Lord Tennyson, the Governor Genoi al, has received a <*able from thy King in which his ?.lajasty rejoices to think that in his coronation year the union of the people of Great B ritain wito those Beyond the seas has been strengthened by another bond. Tne original message to the King reached him via west in an hour and five minutes, while the message by tho east took an hour and twentysix minutes. The Eastern Extension Company explains that it took an hour and twelve minutes to get the message from Suva to Adelaide, and only fourteen minutes between Adelaide and London.
