Hospital anh Charitable Aid Board Chairman , . has decided that all persons receiving charitable aid shall receive an extra allowance on Coronation Day the same as on Christinas Day; The Chairman- was authorised to arrange with, the manager of the Costley Home to give the inmates, something extra, but he did not think it advisable to give them beer. • ' Wellington* May 26. .—. — At p. meeting of citizens the Coronation ' Day Celebration Committeet decided that some elocutionist should recite ant ode to be composed for the occasion. A committee was appointed to select an ode, being also empowered to> choose the orator. It was resolveH to ask the Minister for Education to) ;ssue an order calling upon the Education Boards to have scholars under their jurisdiction assembled at* their respective schools on the" morning of Coronation Day, for the* purpose of saluting the flag, and afterwards taking part in the general) celebrations. Ashburton, May 26.— The Borough) Council to-night voted £75 to the Coronation Celebration Committee not less than ~£ls to be spent on a permanent memorial. The Council alsq resolved itself into a committee to make arrangements for the celebration of peace. Hawera, May . 27. — A public meeting re the Coronation last night decided to approach the Borough Council for a vote of £200. It s proposed to dedicate a Borough reserve as King Edward Park, and expend the money in beautifying it. The question of whether in addition something distinctly commemorative such os a- fountain, statue, or band rotunda, be erected by public subscription was held over. On Coronation Day there will be a Volunteer - "arade. united service, unfurling the f lag, children's luncheon, dedicatoryceremony, torchlight and masquerade precession, and bonfire. " Feild-ing, May 27 .-, A public meetnig last night decided to celebrate cronation Day by a procession of Societies and Volunteers, unfurling \ Royal Standard, firing a salute, -md united religious services.
