CHAMPIONSHIP ROWINGS REGATTA. Per Press Association. Wellinfetbn; January 27. — The Championship Rawing Rfegatta" was held on Saturday at Peton& in smooth water. The crews had to row against a' light north-easterly breeze. Resiults :—: — Champion Sculls, 1£ miles.— J. F. McGrath (Otago) 3; T. Spencer (Wellington) 2, C. Poll (Petohe) 8. Won easily. Maiden Fours, 1 mile—Star Rowing Club (Wellington) 1, Union Boating Club (,Wanganui) 2, Canterbury Rowing Club 3.' Eight Sft&rted; won by a length. Junior Fours,' 1J miles. — Kawatiri Rowing , Club (Wesfiport) 1, Unioa. (Wanganui) 2, Canterbury 3. Seven started; won easily by four lengths. Champion Pairs, 1£ miles.—Crawford and Galbraith (Wellington) 1, Bayfield and Pownall (Star) 2. Won easily. ' Wellington,, 27. — Three 'events oh the programme of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club's Anniversary Regatta were Sailed on Sat. urday afternoon. The rating race for first-class yachts was taken part in by the Waitangi, ,Uainbow, and lorangi, which got aw,ay in that order within 22secs of each other. The finishing times were' as follows :—lorangi: — lorangi 4.51 p.m.,' Waitangi, 4.51i15i Rainbow 4.58.53. The time allowances did not alter- the positions of the boats, and they were placed as they finished. In the race for- second-class yachts there were five competitors. The Siren crossed the finishing line' one second ahead of the Mahina, but the latter gained first prize with lmir 24secs to spare on her time, allowance. - " The handicap * race for • third-class yachts was won by the Kar'aka with the Mahuta second.
