Accidents and Fatalities.

Wanganui, November 22.— Whilst engaged at blasting operations nea • Taihare, two men named Jotin H «1royd and David Bernard met with a serious accident. One ♦ lit^ft, fus-j and threw the match* into a keg df 4 gunpowder, with the result that 1 ; both were terribly burned. The men were brought down to the Wanganui. hospital.
Waipawa, November 23.—Particulars of the To A'ute fire show that Mrs ' Edwards and another Maori woman and four children were sleeping in a whare.. They left a candle burning which fell oa the mats. The old woman escaped, and Mrs Edwards got out with a baby, but the efforts to rescue the others were unavailing. The eldest, a girl named Maria, aged 10, was evidently suffocated. Sne "was! ' -found lying on tho bed. A»bpy, Te Ponaka, 3i, an} a girl, Pope, 2," were found near tbT door.
