INGLEWOOD NEWS.

A very successful entertainment was' held in the Foresters' Hall on the 7th instant to welcome Mr A. Thompson, 8.A.., Presbyterian student, who is to take charge of the church here. The hall was crowded. The Rev. S. S. Osborn.e occupied the chair. The Reys. Sawle, Dudley, and Ashcroft were also present. The Presbyterian orchestra from New •Plymouth " sU^pTiefl^SEfiFst-class music. Songs v were given by Miss mid, Messrs Perry, Sutherland, and others. - Refreshments were plentifully supplied during the evening. Each of- the rev. gentlemen welcomed Mr, Thompson. The latter replied in suitable,, terms. Only 6d was charged for admission. t
The Inglewood Lawn Tennis Club will open the season on Monday, the 11th instant. Mr C. O. Smith (President) will conduct the official opening at 2.30 p.m. , .An .accident, occurred on Wednesday at the "£ig-zag to Mr Cheyn/s coach. Two horses were killed and the coach much damaged. I hear Mr Ch,eyne is not hurt." However, Mr G. Bennett told me he would send word by telephone.
