Mr H. H. Lever, chairman of the Sunlight soap firm, is about to visit New Zealand. Ho thinks no country in the world uses more soap per inhabitant than Australia.
Mr E. Fitts, late of the Pollard Co., who is now warbling in Dixs companies, was a through passenger from Auckland this morning. Mr T. C. Brash, late manager of the Maketawa Dairy Comphiiy, has been appointed assistant gr.ider at the Moturoa works. lie has a good record as a butter and cheese maker. Last year he carried off the prizes at the Dunedin and Palmerston Shows in butter for export. He also captured the 10 guinea prize offered by the Pearson and Rutter Company for the manager scoring the highest average points for the season's outpuc of butter for the whole of the North Island. His services will be utilised at slack times as an instructor in butter making. At a meeting of temperance workers md members of the Women's Christian Temperance Union last week Mrs Collis was presented wilh a purse of sovereigns is a token of appreciation of the selfdenying work sho has done on behalf of the Union and of temperance matters generally.
HOLLOWAY'S OINTMENT AND PILLS.— More precious than Gold.— Diarrhoea, dysentery and cholera are through the summer's heat carrying on" the young, as the winter's cold destroys the apred. The friction should be frequent and brisk, to insure the penetration of a large portion of the unguent. This Ointment calms the excited peristaltic action and soothes the pain. Both vomiting and griping yield to it , where fruit or vegetables have originated the malady, it .is proper to remove all indigested matter from the bowels by a moderate dose of Holloway's Pills before using the Ointment.
