CRICKET.
Tbe annual meeting of the Carrington Boad Cricket ( lub took place *>n i hursday last at the residence of Mr Me' wen, who kindly placed the house at the disposal of the t lub for the occasion, , About twenty five members were present, Mr R. D. Colson being in tbe chair. The balance-sheet showed that the Club was in a good finaucial position ; just on £17 had been disbursed during the last ' year, leaving a small cash balance in tbe , hands of the treasurer. The annuil , social had netted a balance of £4 3s 4d. , Ten Union matches had been played ' during the season, five of which were won, two were iost, and three resulted in drawn games. During the evening tbe prize bats were presented to the successful competitors, J. >pence winning tbo President's bat for senior batting average . and W. Perham taking Mr Me wen's bat for best bowling average. ' For the Juniors K. Me Ulum was the successful batsman, Messrs Jordan and Hampton's trophy, while IT. Richards was the recipient cf Mr McAllum's bat for best bowling average". The following officers were elected for the ensuing season: President, Mr R. Cock (re-elected); vice-presidents, Mesdames Cock and Sax on, Messrs W..F. McAllum, N. King, J. B. Roj, H. W. Saxton, R. L. Stanford, T. Brash, E. H. i Tribe, R. D. Colsoo, and Spence; captain, i J. Spence ; vico-captain, W. Perham; : delegate, A. W. McLlwen; committee, C. Jordan. K. McAllum, A. Cole, A. Marrefct, J. Spence, \V. Perham. "VV. McEwen; selection committee, J. Spence, C. Jordan, "W. Perham. Messrs Allan and Ale- i Alister were elected life members of the club, and Mr E. H. Tribe was nominated i vice-president of iho Taranaki Cricket Association. The folloming new members were elected:—H. Potter, G. Spencer, Dr Fookes, T. M. Avery, A. "V. Jones, A.. Bullock, Dale, J. Gilmour, G. Bruce, R. : McAllum, Barford. The business over, the assemblage (numbering 43) acceptod the invitation of Mr and Mrs McEwen to enjoy a social evening, daucing being kept up with great vigour until an early hour in the morning.
