Pioduce is quiet. Potatoes are in full supply and weaker. Grass seeds are dearer . Bacon scarce and firmer
Quotations are as follov;s : — Fresh •butter, factory, lid ; farmers', 8d ; seconds, 7d ; prime salt butter, lOd ; seconds, B£d ; cheese, local, 3d to 4£d per lb ; factory, 4fd to s£d ; eggs, 7d doz.; hams (in cloth), 7£d to B£d ; Tjacon (in cloth), 5d to 6d ; roller flour, £7 los ; maize, 2s 3d to 2s 4d (ex wharf) ; oats, feed, 2s 6d to 2s 8d (ex wharf) ; wheat, 2s 8d to 2s lOd ; fowl wheat, 2s 10d ; oatmeal (25's), £12 10s ; potatoes, 5s to 5s 9d (ex wharf) ; new potatoes, from l£d to 2d per Tb.
Grain, Fodder, &c. — Messrs Buckland & Sons report : — No change in ex store prices ; inferior chaff at auction, £2 to £2 10s per ton ; maize, ex wharf, 2s 3d bushel.
Horse Stock, &c. — Messrs Buckland & Sons report : — Horses : At the Haymarket on Friday last active draught horses sold from £32 to £56 ; medium draught mares and III— lies, £20 to £34 ; good light harness horses and hacks, £15 to £25 ; ordinary strong useful sorts, £8 to £14.
Wool, Hides, Skins, &c. — Messrs G. W. Binney & Sons report that they cleared large catalogues of hides, etc., under brisk competition. Hides, prime ox, 7d ; extra ntout, 6d to 6£d ; stout, sid to ojd ; medium, 4£d to 4^d ; light, 4rt to 4}d ; cow, picked, 4id to 4fd ; best lines, 4id to 4^d ; wet, 3fd to 4d ; seconds, 3d to 3}d ; stags, 2sd to 2|d. Sheepskins advanced ; local large, 3s 4d ; small, 2s 6cl ; average, 3s ; dry skins, Is 6d to 3s. Tallow, mixed, 19s 9d to 21s ; seconds, 16s 6d to 17s per cwt. — Messrs Buckland & Sons report : — Heavy ox, 5d to 6jjd ; lighter, 4£d to o£d ; cow, 4d to 4£d; calf, sd. Rough fat, lid. Cattle, Sheep, &c. — Messrs A. Auckland & Sons report that at Rcmuera on Thursday dairy cows were dull of sale from £3 to £6 15s. The store pens were well filled with good cattle, which sold freely ; 2 to 3year steers, £5 to £6 10s ; yearlings, £2 Los to £3 10s ; dry cows, £2 10s to £4 5s ; fat and young calves fully kept late values. Fat cattle were better worth ,• steers and heifers, from 21s to 24s ; aged cows, 17s to 19d per lOOIbs (210 sold) ; steers, from £6 10s to £11 17s Gd ; cows, £4 10.s to £8 ss. Fat sheep and lambs met a good sale ; heavy wethers, from 17s to 20s ; others, 13s 6d to lGs : ewes, 10s 6d to 16s
(1100 sold) ; spring lambs, from 9s 6d to 15s 6d (90 sold) ; ewes with lambs, from 10s to 14s. Pigs were plentiful and sold readily, especially good porkers. — The New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report :— Cattle ; At Newmarket on Tuesday dairy and store stock were in usual numbers ; beef, in barely average numbers, met with keen competition at advanced rates ; ox beef, from 22s to 25s per 1001 b ; cow, 17s to 20s ; steers, from £7 10s to £10 17s 6d ; cows, £4 150 to £7 17s Gd ; dairy cows, £4 to £S 2s 6d ; empty cows, £3 5s to £4 2s. Sheep advanced in price on last week's quotations ; wethers, from 13s 6d to 20s ; ewes, 12s to 17s 9d ; lambs, 8s 6d to 10s. Pigs: Porkers, from 18s to 38s ; weaners, from 4s 6d to 12s.
