OBITUARY.
We regret to have to record the death, which occurred this morning, of Mr G. M. Brascb, after a short illness, at the age of 71. Mr Brasch came to New Plymouth from Otago in September, 1879, to undertake the management of a branch which Messrs Hallenstein Bro?. were then opening here. This position he held until October. 1882, when he bought the business of Miss Retford, *'hich he has carried on ever sine", dropping however, the fancy goods part of the business 6ome two or three years igo, keeping on only the tobacconist side. .\lr Brasch was about until a few daj s igo, and his doath was somewhat sudden. He leaves four sons, Mr E. A. Brascb, lentist of this towjn, Mr H. Brasch, a I uvj r er, now in Dunedin, another ia Mcl journe, and the joungest in England. Among the Jewish community of •'aranaki Mr Brasch was looked on as one f the foremost men. He was a native of Posen, in Prussian Poland, and a man who had seen a good de-il of the world, and was well and favourably knewn by everyone who had come in contact with him. He was a maternal uncle of Major Zal.'n^ki, of the United States of America, the inventor of the air gun. The body of the docoased will be removed to Auckland on Monday next for inter nent.
