United Press Assocfation^—By Electric Telepraub.— Copyright. Received July 26, 10.30 p.m. Sydney, July 26. Eleven men (piincipals in the boxing contest) were charged with being concerned in the death of Otto Cribb, and remanded on bail, pending further police enquiries. At the Australian Joint Stock Bank annual meetiug the profits for the pa9t six' months were stated at £100,057. After paying interest on deposits and stock a surplus of £13,465 remains. A sum of £11,000 was applied to special station accounts, and the balance added to the surplus. The report stated th it the Bank's New South Wales station properties, owing to the disastrous drought, bad given no retnrns during the halfyear. Governor Sir George O'Brien is a passenger by the Hauroto, which arrived from Fiji to-day. Received July 26, 8.58 a.m. Adelaide, July 27. A fire occurred on the Bteamer Balmoral, lying at a wharf, with 5000 tons of Java sugar aboard. The fire broke out in a hold amidships, where 1000 tons of sugar was stowed. Some 250 tons was destroyed, while profcib'y a large quantity in thj lower hold was damaged by water. The flames and boiling su^ar, which spreadjn all directions, seriously damaged the captain's cabin, the siloon, storerooms, and fittings. Received July 27, 9.58 a.m Melbourne, July 27. At the half-yearly meeting of the Broken Hill Proprietary Company the net profits were shown to be L 87.600, while L 120,000 was distributed in dividends. The Chairman stated that the directors did not consider it desirable at present to declare a dividend, but at next .quarterly meeting they would be in a better position to judge tho possibilities of the future, and act accordingly.
