Dr. Hutchinson being' unable' to give his promised lecture on physical culture on Monday, several ladies and gentlemen kindly came forward and helped to put in a pleasant evening for the boys. Mr A. Ambury took the, Qhair. shortly after 7 o'clock. Mr A. Et. Ambury sang and Miss Ambnry played. Then followed a recitation from- one of the boys, Master Tip'pina'; a reading by Mr Ambury, and a piano solo from Mr Bradbury. Whcnx Mr .'Ambnry, left to attend a meeting,- elsewhere' Mf j. Collis took the chajr. aud gave a most interesting address •to the-fcoys, encouraging them ta take advantage of the- institution to the full, and more particularly to attend the educational classes. ■He urgod them to -lose no opporttinHy .to improve themselves, that they might be better enabled to fill the positions life which lay- before them. A song from Mr Bradbury came next, and from the same gentleman & humourous description of a beginner's skating experiences, illustrated - with chalk sketches.
