SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The ordinary meeting was held at thai officeof the Secretary, Mr F. P. Corkill, at 11 o'clock on Friday. Present: Messrs Cock (chairman), Strauchon, Wade, and Faull. The Secretary reported the indisposition of Mr Stock, the other member. On Mr Wade's motion a resolution of sympathy with hopes for a speedy recovery was passed ; and Mr Stock waa ' granted leave of absence. Captain Gibson applied for leave* to have the ■ stones removed from half acre of his leasehold at the Waiwa- ; kaiho, in order that furze might be eradicated, and the land levelled for cultiva- . tion. The application was granted, on condition that earth is pat on the land to bring it up to- the present level, the, -,' work to be done to the satisfaction of "*■ the Board's Ranger. Some discussion took place respecting '* some cottages at Patea, which were reported by the .Ranger to '~be unoccupied i and unused. The Ranger was requested to make full enquiries, and report to the Chairman, who -was empowered to take i action on the report. The Board's solicitor will be asked to advise as to the damage caused to re- ? serves by the County Council removing stone from the Waiwakaiho River. .i. i The Ranger reported ' at length on a number of ''reserves, and the following resolution were passed: — The Board de,? .- cided to visit the Umutekai lake, between Egmont and Smart Roads, at an early date. The Secretary was instructed to - notify Mr C. T. Rundle^ as .mortgagee of sec 25, Hna and Waiwakaiho, that the ' conditions of tbe lease must be forthwith carried out. Catchpole of sec 63, block 1, Mahoe S.D. ; W. P. Harre to H. , Brown & Co., sec 113, Manganui district; T. and R Wright to T. Wright, jun. , : and W- J- Wright, sec 14, block 12, Waitara S.D. Sub-leftse* granted on the usual conditions : — Gaylard's executors to Coldrick of sec 164, Hua and Waiwakaiho ; P. Hunter's application to sub-lease to P. ' O'Connor, was referred to the Board's solicitor to be reported on at the next > meeting.
