The revenue of the United Kingdom forthevear ended March, shows an increase of £10,260,896 over tbe previous! year of which over £8,000,000 is due to income tax, which was increased from 8d to Is in the £. \ TIIE GOLD COAST TROUBLE. Received April 3. 1.11 a.m. London, April 2. • The Kurnnsi deserters have been sent home to Sierra Leone. The failure to relieve them was due to the Gambia operations. THB RIOTING IN ST. PETERSBURG. St. Petersburg, April 2. Three thousand arrests have been made at St. Petersburg alone in connection with rioting. The military are kept constantly under arms at Moscow, Kharkoff, and' Odessa. THE EARTHQUAKE AT CONSTANTINOPLE. ConstAXTixopr.E, Ap-il I. Tbe earthquake at Constantinople occurred during the annual Mahomraedan festival of Bairam. The high officials were passing before the Sultan's throne when portions of the ceiling and chandeliers fell and caused a panic. The musicians rushed to the doors, and the Sultan rose but again reseated himself, and ordered the ceremony to proceed. Received April 3, 9.39 a.m. ACCIDENT TO PRINCESS BEATRICE. London, April 2. Princess Boatrice sprained her ankle while walking at the villa of the Empress Eugenic at Capmartin. ROYAL ASSENT TO VICTORIAN ACT. The King has assented to the Victorian Act prohibiting members of the State Pailiament sitting in the Federal Parliament. STRIKE AMONG COAL MINFBS. The Lanarkshire coal miners have struck upon the eight hours' question. Received April 1* 9.33 a.vi. ROYAL TITLES. London, April 2. The Standard states that prior to the commencement of the voyage of the Duke of York a suggestion from representative colonial quarters was submitted to the King to create the Duke Prince of Australia. The Ministws considered that if titular dignities were conferred on the colonies Canada had the first claim. The suggestion is now made that Prince Edward, eldest son of the Duke, should be created Prince of Canada, and Albert, the second son, be created Prince of Australia.
