Judgment in the Porirua case is reserved. The Court is now hearing an application by the Wellington City Council to set aside claims for compensation amounting t0L25,000 for a small strip of hind in Willis and Harbour-streets. Owing to inadvertence the time was allowed to lapse within which action could be taken to contest the claim. The Council contends the claims are greatly in excew of the the true value, and that the Court has inherent jurisdiction to prevent injustice being done. BRICKLAYERS' STRIKE. Altki.and, April 1.
