Mr Ronald; Northern Melbourne, Mr Higgins. Received March 30, 1.41 a.m. Sydney, March 29.—Tho fight for seats in tho Lower House his resolved itself into one of Free trade versus Protection. Mr Bruce-Smith, a former member of the Parkes' Administration scored heavily over his Protectionist opponent for Hume. Sir W. J. Lyne leads by 110. returns incomplete. For Canobhs Mr Brown, a Freotrade Labour candidate is leading Mr Wise by igo. The following Protectionist Ministerialists havo been returned: —For Bland. Mr Watson (Labour); Hunter, Mr Barton, unopposed; Monaro, Mr Chapman defeated Mr Wood, Minister of Justice; Gwydria, Mr Cruickshanks; Richmond, Mr Ewing; Rivcrina, Mr Chanter, defeating Mr Ashton, member of the State Legislature. Sydney, March 30.—The following Freetraders have been returned: —East Sydney, Mr Reid, by a majority of 4043; North Sydney, Mr Dugald Thomson; Dalley, Mr Wilks; Parramatta, Mr Joseph Cook; Lang, Mr McLean; Parkes, Mr Bruce-Smith, a member of Mr Reid's Cabinet: New England, Mr Lonsdale; Robertson, Mr Willis; Barrier, Mr Thomas, Labour; Darling, Mf Spence: West Sydney, Mr Hughes, Labour; Wentworch, Sir Wilian McMillan; Illawarra. Mr Fuller, defeating Mr Alexander Hay; Newcastle, Mr Gilbert; Macquarrie, Mr Sydney Smith. Received March 30, 9.43 a.m. Sydney, March 30. —The state of parlies is 17 Freetraders, 8 Protectionists, 1 Labour. In Victoria the state of parties is 14 Protectionists and 3 Freetraders. Six seats are incomplete. Westralia and Tasmaniau results are incomplete. The approximate aggregate is Protectionists 25, Freetraders 25, Indopsndents 1. Ministerialists havo 26 supporters. The Senate returns arc far from complete. Mr Barton thinks tho final returns will improve his position
