A letter dated November last from the Cardinal toDr O'Haran was put in evidence. Ijkseys: * ! I consider it a matter of duty to convey in an. official manner my sinoearest condolence in the terrible ordeal of persecution 3'on a**e being subjected to." , After * tribute to the magnificent snecufe' of Dr O'Haran's ministry the writer says: '• Yon may rest assured this attempt of Satan will be discomfited, and «tt these present trials will only add to the splendour of religion amongst us. Our divine Master permits the presenfrbnrden of persecution, as a lesson to bear His cross faithfully, whilst looking solely to> heaven fbrrewwd. Shdtrid you require* any material aid in your defence against this mol ideas conspiracy you may draw | on my account for any num. yon require.."
