Received January 30. 1.28 a.m. Rome, January 27.— Obituary: Verdi, the eminent composer, after two days' illness All the Italian theatres are closed. [Guiseppe Verdi was born at Roncon, Parma, in 18 L 4, and studied his art under Lavinga at Milan. In 1839 he produced his first work, but it was not until ho gave to the public his '' Nabuco " in 1842 that he acquired a name as a musicJ writer, and became the most popular composer of the time. His operas of " Rigoletto," " Trovatore," " Traviata," and others are still among the most popular musical productions.]
