AN EPIDEMIC OF WHOOPING COUGH.
Last winter, during an epidemic of whooping cough, my children contracted the disease, having severe coughing spells. The charge with the Agricultural Department makes for receiving, grading, and packing eggs for exporting (including boxes) is 2s per dozen. The Department will not ship any fowls, ducklings, or goslings to London after April in each year, as it has been found that birds sent away after that date do not sell readily at rates that are satisfactory to the shippers. It is important that all birds entrusted to tbe Department for export should be as equal in weight and quality as possible.
The unconscious humour of the festive cdmpositor is proverbial, but his finest efforts are strangled in the proof-room and survive only aa printing-office traditions.
