LAND BOARD.

The Board met on Monday. Present: Mr J. Strauchon, Commissioner (Chair•nnn\ Tlon. T. Kelly, and Messrs Slock, Ffrslon, and Rattenimry. Land aj>plied for .siucu last meeting :—: — Section 6. block 2. Muhoe, 332 acres, R. Cleaver. J.i.p ; section 8, block 5, Kapara, 743 acres. (). Laraen. l.i.p. Transfers approved :— "W. 11. Robinson to W. B. and 11. W. Davits, sec 5, block 5. Egmont, F. Scbwamni to J. H. Blanchett, section 6, block 5, £gmont; J. Kaspar to W. (t. Jlalone and H. B. Worthington, sections 19, 20, and 21, block 3, Omona ; A. and G. McKenzie U> (}. McKenzie, section 10, block 4, Ngatfmaru. H. B. Worthmgton's application to admit W. G. Malone into partnership with him in sections 20, 24, 25, 26, block, 4, Omona, wav approved. J. J. Leigh applied to transfer section 12, block 13, Mahoe. to Miss A. Hastie, and the latter aplied for exemption from residence in terms of section 142, of the Land Act, 1892. — Both approved. ' Application to sublet was granted :—: — Jessie Mackay to Messrs W. R. F. Jl, and J. W. Mackay, section 22, block 12, Huiroa, for 6 years at £18 4s per annum. — Subject to all papers being in order Mre M. A. Blair will be allowed to sublet section 29, block 16, Egmont, for 2 years, at £6 17s 8d per annum, to Mrs E. Blair. — J. McDonough was allowed to sublet, 1 section 22, block 6, Ngatimaru, to Messrs Haylock, Hodgkinson, and Quinton. An application to mortgage was granted. The action of the Commissioner in endorsing a consent to mortgage was approved. Applications for freeholds granted:—D. Mannix, sec 4, block 15, Ngahe; G, Williams, sec 13, block 11, Ngatimarn. The Ranger reported upon an application by G. A.Middleinißsto select sec 16, block 14, Upper Waitara, by itself, it being at present open for selection grouped with sec 15. Tbe Ranger recommended that the valuation for improvements, £18, be removed. — Tbe application was not entertained, and the valuation was reduced to £.2. i Thirds expenditure agreed to :—Manganui Road Board, £125 Is 7d; Patea West Road Board, £25 18s 6d. The Ranger reported upon an application of the Moa Road Board to modify the proposal for expenditure of thirds, accrued from sees 9 and 11, block 7, Huiroa. — The present report of the Ranger was adopted. H. Clark was granted three months* extension of time to effect deficient improvements on sees 23 and 24, block 3, Omona. C. K. McCutchan applied for consent to a grant of timber and tramway rights oversees 1 and 2, block IS, Pouatu,to> Messrs Grant, Spencer, and Decker for a term of five years from December Ist, 1900. — Held over till next meeting. J. Stanford explained the reason for non-residence on sec 6, block 11, Ngatimaru, and stated that timber was on the ground ready for building. — Three months extension was granted. W. A. E. McCutchan was allowed to effect all improvements required on see 2, block 14, Pouatu, on sec 10. G. Moir applied to surrender £ acre of sec 46, block 11, Ngaire,for a public hall, and submitted a plan of survey. — The application was agreed to, and steps wilt be taken to give effect to it. C. W. Cullen will be allowed to use tbe hut on sec 5, block 11, Ngatimaru, at Is per week, but this weekly tenancy gives him no other right, &c. ' The division of sec 98, block 5,- Waimate, was reported, and the plan having been returned to the surveyor consideration of the matter was defeirwL The Town Clerk of Stratford wrote that the Borough Council did not propose taking any action in the matter of sees 532, 533, 564, and 565, proposed for gravel reserves. The amount to be put upon sec — , Mangaehu Village, as valuation 'for improvements effected at the creamery there was considered. — The Ranger will visit the ground, and repert fully upon all buildings and plant, and to ascertain the value of same. F. H. Tapson wrote that he hoped to effect deficient improvements on sec 11, block 8, Mimi, within three months.— Extension granted. A plan of. sec 137, Hua district, surveyed by Mr W. H. Skinner, was laid on the table with schedule, Ac. The land -will be put up at public auction for cash at an upset of £2 an acre. A plan of sees 33 and 70, block 10, Mimi, Pukearuhe, surveyed by Mr W. T. Morpeth, was laid on the table. The sections will be offered at auction for cash; sec 33 at an upset of £7 an acre, and Bee 70 at £9 an acre. A letter was received frota C. Lovetfc at Poro o-tarao, making application on behalf of six other persons for lands in tbe- Ohnra S.D. The lands will be held from sale for the present, and that when the hinds are opened, that due notice be given in the ordinary manner. R. Barrett, a settler at Nibo Niho, applied for an extension of his holding. Consideration was deferred until the application of the Ryan Bros, is dealt with. J. Hutchins asked that two sees be laid off opposite the Greenlands settle ment as additions to the holdings of him self and his sons. — The surveyor now in the locality, Mr Laing, will be requested to report bow much bush they have down, and what use they are making of the area now in grass. . W. Spargo was granted 6 months' leave of absence from see 24, block 10, Ngatimaru. Leases will be issued to the following I I.F. selectors: — J. Rooney, sec 26, block 9, Ngatimaru; F. N. Myers, sec 27, block j 10, same; J. J. Chapman, sees 7 and, B, block 4, Mimi; J. H. Waller, sec 26, block 11, Ngaire; G. Wenlo k, sec 27, block 11, same; M. Olson, sec 86, block 10, same; T. J. A. Hutchins, sec 3, block 13, Mimi: J. Sheehy, sec 18, Hock 9, same; J. J. Sommers, sec 10, block 11, Ngaire; H. Robinson, sec 11, block 11, Ngaire. A letter was read from A. Hatrick & Co., applying for permission to erect a cargo shed at Putikituna, and for a paddock of about 14 acres, and asking if they could purchase or lease the site*— The matter was left in the hands ef the Commissioner to mako the necessary arrangements.
